3 Eco-friendly home decor ideas

Change starts at home. To us, that means making eco-friendly purchases where possible – including our home decor. Fear not though, having a sustainable home doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish too! Here are TBCo’s top tips for combining style, functionality and environmental consciousness.

Eco-friendly ways to decorate your home

From recycling to reducing waste, there are many ways we can do our bit to help out the planet from the comfort of our own homes. Incorporating eco-friendly decorations into our living spaces not only enhances the beauty of our homes, it also contributes to a greener future.

Creating an eco-friendly home in 3 steps

There are many ways you can transform any zone in your home into an eco-friendly haven.

  • Choose sustainable materials: furniture made from reclaimed wood, recycled plastic, natural fibres etc. These materials not only look great in the home but reduce the demand for resources and can promote a circular economy.
  • Upcycle and repurpose: instead of throwing away items that are not in style anymore, or are worn out, upcycle them! For example, a blanket you’ve fallen out of love with could be turned into curtain lining or cushion covers.
  • Choose timeless pieces that are durable and will last you a long time. You can update your space using little touches like throw pillows and blankets, but for big-ticket items pick something you know you'll love for along time.

  • Sustainable home accessories

Accessories such as blankets, candles and throw cushions can dress up any living space. After you’ve got your essentials sorted (think couches, coffee tables etc), it’s the little touches that brighten up a room and tie it together.

Spruce up your home and make it sustainable by opting for natural fibres like wool and cotton, or even reclaimed materials that have been recycled for a new lease of life. A Recycled Wool blanket is a great way to refresh your home. A neutral like our Waffle Blanket in Camel is a timeless classic that can be displayed all year round, or choose different patterns like a gingham or check that can be swapped out seasonally.
