Timeless wardrobe essentials for women: what to wear in 2023

Your wardrobe essentials are the items that make you feel fabulous when you put them on. Those carefully curated pieces that you can return to season after season, year after year and you know they just work. Wardrobe essentials are effortless, timeless and, most importantly, suit your personal style.

Essentials for a capsule wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe is a great place to start with your wardrobe essentials. Ideally, these are garments that are versatile and can be worn together in multiple different looks, which makes getting dressed in the mornings that much easier and quicker. We consider that a win!

Why you should invest in wardrobe basics

Picture this: you wake up in the morning, grab a cup of your favourite blend of coffee, saunter over to your wardrobe and grab an outfit, just like that. Effortless, simple and gracefully quick. We can’t promise your mornings will be stress-free, but with a curated wardrobe they can be more simple.

Top 5 wardrobe must-haves

Our brand stylist and fashion expert, Chloe, shares her favourite five staples that every woman should have in her wardrobe.

The Little Black Dress - the ultimate feel-good item. This will never go out of style and will be an elevated staple in your wardrobe for years.

The White Shirt - cool, crisp and clean, a classic white shirt can be worn with pretty much everything you own.

The Tailored Blazer - the power item in your wardrobe. This piece is guaranteed to make you feel pulled together and polished. It pairs perfectly with denim for day or tailoring for night.

The Basics - don’t underestimate the power of the perfect basics. Every woman needs a white and black tee in good quality, thick cotton. They go with everything and you’ll wear them for years.

The Jeans - pick denim that works for you and your body type, don’t be tempted to buy into denim trends. I recommend sticking to a darker wash and avoiding distressing or embellishments, let’s leave those in the 90s.

How to style your outfits

Once you’ve got the basics sorted, how you style them is up to you. Accessories can make an outfit, so if you love being bold and bright, embrace maximalist fashion and add a colourful tote bag, hat or scarf in the winter months. Feeling more neutral? Belts and blazers are great for keeping your wardrobe streamlined and capsule. The best part? Accessories can be swapped out seasonally to nod to current trends while keeping your core wardrobe timeless and able to be worn year-round.
